hey guys, i have a savage model10 fcp with the hs precision stock and a nikon monarch 6-24x50 scope on it, chambered in .308... i started reloading and i am getting very good results, but...as i am sure this happens with everyone....i want to make the package better..lol what kind of upgrades are available for my rifle.. any ideas would be awesome, thanks

ok, sounds good.. i am new to this so i hope i don't sound dumb for asking this...but i honestly don't know.. what does bedding do for the rifle ... like i said, maybe silly..but if i don't ask.. i wont know

Glass bedding makes the action fit tighter and more securely into the stock. This should theoretically increase the accuracy by ensuring the action is held by the stock the exact same way for each shot, instead of shifting around under recoil.

Its arguable whether or not you will see an improvement on an HS precision stock with the aluminum bedding block, but its certainly not going to make the accuracy worse. As Cappy said though, your best investment will likely be more trigger time.

How well is the rifle shooting for you?

Once bedded and with good reloads, I would expect this rifle to be a 1/2min rifle at best. That is really good accuracy for any factory rifle.

If you are shooting 4" or so at 200yds, then more practise will help. As will wind flags, and good rests.

To improve on this, you will need a match quality barrel.

There is a lot you can do with Savage rifles, its ridiculous. Check out this site. I've bought a lot from them in the past and they are slick to deal with. Most everything can be done with out a gunsmith unless you are uncomfortable with it.

Of course nothing substitutes more trigger time.
