I am in the process of upgrading from PAL to RPAL I took the course and now waiting for the stamped results to come back.
But on the application it asks about job loss in the last 2 yrs. The company I worrked for moved to the USA last November(2011). But since the started a new job. And I was wondering how that would affect my application.

i should doubt if that will affect you at all- they MAY ( and a big emphasis on may) ask you to clarify, but stability in your job is so far down on the "list" i would hesitate to "worry"- about it - FAR MORE IMPORTANT is to have good referances, and show a stable character-as long as you're vouched for, you're good to go

It wont affect your application, RCMP will phone you to clear up any misunderstandings in the application. Things are alot quicker now that they scrapped the long gun registry too

thanks for the replies guys. I just hope that they dont give me a hassel. Im still waiting for my course results to come back. its been a lioittle over a month now.

I also had to check that box. Haven't heard from the CFC yet, my application hasn't even appeared online yet.
As people have said, it doesn't seem like such a big deal as long as you've currently got a job. Probably someone got paranoid about the idea of a guy getting laid off and going to grab a shotgun.

It took me close to 5 months to complete the process from start to finish. That was with the Christmas holidays in there tho... And I know for a fact that they only do background checks on certain individuals... With any luck you will scoot through quick

This is exactly what they're watching for. But your assertive answer is the correct response. "Yep, they moved, but I found new work quickly."

And things are going a LOT faster now that the LGR is dead. Seems a lot of the staff have been moved over to other firearms -related positions. My club told me if I bought that 1911 today I could expect a LTATT in 3 days. Unfortunately they didn't have it in 9mm...

I've got my RPal delivered to their office, checked off the same box (Job Loss) and typed a specific and detail letter as to clarifying what happened and what action I took immediately following (now self-employed)

Just a quick update for members. CFC didnt give me much of a hassle over the job loss.
I did the restricted course March 18th,
Exam back end of April.
