what is a good place for organised pheasant, grouse, pigeon hunts in ontario

prefer a genteleman shoot like in scotland, england etc

I recommend taking a look at huntontario.com. I recall finding there some advertisements about game farms that included at least one place run by some Englishmen that closely matches the type of shooting more commonly found in the UK. The place had a name that sounded like Bardrochat or something like that. I believe that Pine Ridge Game Reserve might also be able to provide hunts that mimic the driven pheasant shoots common across the pond.

For the most part, most game preserves release a couple birds per hunter per day's hunting in an area of about 50-100 acres, which usually require some dogs to flush and mimics what would be called rough shooting in England.

For all of the negative effects of the urbanization and posting of land in places like southern Ontario, it would be great if it encouraged the formation of more organized stocking and driven shoots like those managed in the UK and other parts of Europe. For the most part though, quality upland hunting requires finding a few places that hold woodcock in season and a few grouse coverts for a couple of flushes per day's hunting.

Best of Luck,

Frank
