I just purchased a Uplander 12 gauge that came with two screw in chokes. Only info I have is on the box where it says MF and CT. Now, the last shotgun I bought, 25 years ago, had no chokes, just the fixed barrel, full choke I guess. I'm assuming the MF means modified but what's the CT? Cylinder ? What would each be best used for? IF I take both chokes out, does that mean I have two cylinder bores? Could someone educate me please.

Do the choke tubes have any markings like dots? If so how many? If you shoot the gun without the choke tubes in it you will damage your barrel.

Is the Uplander a stoeger? If so it seems to only come from the factory with IM improved Cylinder and Mod.

Yes, after backtracking through some of the posts and reading them, I've unscrewed the chokes and the left has one mark, which I think means Full Choke, and the right has three marks, meaning modified choke. Is this correct? Knowing about keeping the chokes in and not damaging the barrels is rather important, don't you think. Not information included with the gun! So the CT must be referring to French? .... C/T = choke tubes...DUH!!!!!!!!

yes, it is a Stoeger Uplander 12G sxs deluxe, or at least it says so on the box. It is a pretty looking gun and I can't wait to use it in a few weeks time. It does have chokes that have one mark, and three marks. According to earlier posts, that's full choke and modified choke. Am I correct?

The purpose of the two chokes is for differences in distance. When game becomes visible, you can pick wichever has a better choke for the distance. Modified for up close and full for distant. Did you get the single selective trigger or the double triger. I love my Stoeger SxS with double trigger. It make me think of a crankey old 49'er screaming "Get off ma laaaaaand". I love it. I hope you enjoy yours too.

Mine has the double trigger as well. I've been reading a little about the chokes. My last shotgun was bought in 1980, a Marlin Goose Gun, with one fixed full choke. Great for geese but I just got tired of blowing up other birds! The removable chokes are new to me. Sounds like a good idea. The wood is just beautiful. No doubt, it will be very enjoyable to hunt with, and the db is a gun that I've always wanted.
