Idk if this is just my own experience but I verified my issue with my brand new XCR. It is the bolt catch pin, somehow, through shooting only surplus ammunition after ONE day, it bent and now the bolt catch can only be used manually. For a 2500 dollar rifle I'm choked to say the least. I am not sure if most black rifles come from the factory and have things like this happen but for a first time black rifle owner its brutal. The dealer wolverine however has yet again been amazing in helping me trouble shoot so that is a silver lining to say the least. Has anyone else had this happen on these rifles?

There was a batch of bolt catch that wasn't heat treated properly, before they were shipped out from the supplier, hard to tell from the properly treated ones, so they do pop up once in awhile.

The XCR is a good rifle, but the QA at Robinson Arms is a little hit and miss. I've had a few issues with my XCR as well. Stick with it, once you get past these QA issues, the rifle is pretty dam sweet.

The only problem I have had was with the bolt catch, I have a new one now. Otherwise it is a pretty great rifle despite its reputation. Luckily we have Wolverine to help us with customer service for Rob Arms or else I doubt many people would buy the rifle.

Bad news is the bolt catch is a XCR problem area, many folks have lots of trouble with it. Another member actually spend couple hundred bucks to have machinist custom made a catch.
Good news is WOLV is great with service and warranty. Worst case bolt catch is about 30 bucks shipped after 1 yr warranty expires.

Yeah, when I received my -M and opened it up, and saw the bolt catch, that pretty much proved my worse fear that the folks at Robinson Armament were neither engineers, or firearms experts.....

Mine works, but, can anyone say "mickey mouse"?

I have the same issue with my xcr albertanbound. take a look at this after only 250 rounds. fortunately the service at wolverines is amazing!

so i bought a SKS the same week my XCR came in and it just blows my mind how a rifle as old as the SKS can run so flawless and my brand new technologically advanced modern sporting rifle didn't make it passed 60 rounds till i had a failure with the bolt. oh ya and i put 700 rounds in one sitting thru the SKS and guess what, not one problem.

Ya bummer , I have not personally bought an XCR just because ive heard of to many issues. Although I have a friend that has one " XCR's are not that common around these parts " and he absolutely swears by it ... he has never one single problem with his in the past 3 years he has had it. His is chambered in 7.62x39.

Lucky for you bought it from Wolverine. They have always gone above and beyond, even when ive politely ask for them to cover thing that I thought it would be reasonable for them to tell me to beat it. Not only have they helped me every time they don't even question me ... " Yup no problem " or " Sure just send it back ! " fk'n unreal service over there.

Since Wolverine is the Canadian distributor of RA products, it doesn't matter where you bought your new rifle from, they will deal with all warranty issues.

after a 6 month wait, i picked up my XCR-L in .223 today. 120 rds down tube. 40 rds on setting 4, 40 on 3 and 40 on 2. zero issues cept for one dud. Norc 5.56 ammo. not trying hard, i had a 4inch grouping at 50m (60 rds total) and 6 inch at 100m (60 rds) with irons and sand bags. wish i figured out the cheek rest before i got home

Thank god for Wolverine service. If it wasn't for them there would be a lot more RA haters. The owner of RA is an arse to deal with to the point that I dumped all my RA products just so I know I wasn't supporting him and his company anymore with my hard earned after tax dollars. Rant over. Hope you have no more issues.

I have had contact with the owner of RA and he wasnt an arse to deal with, infact he was very helpful and resolved my issues.

Have you contacted him or are you just repeating what you have read on the internet?

Both. I have dealt with him and I did read his personal posts on the internet. Both experiences went against every grain in my body. I'm glad you had a good dealings. Perhaps his attitude has changed? Anyway, sorry to bring this off topic. I've had enough experience with RA products failing and enough customer service issues to finally have enough. YMMV.

Yeah the XCR is definitely like the M305. You better be ready to deal with s**t lol. Ive seen Alex's attitude online and it sucks to say the least. Maybe he dreamed of military contracts and feels shunned to be serving civilians? At least we get Wolverine to deal with up here. They are what alot other Canadian businesses should strive to be.

I had a similar situation, BHO was at a 45 from factory, totally mangled the pin and the bolt before i figured out what was going on...

bho at 45???? define???? the kind folks from wolverines have seen this a few times and figure its a sh*tty machine job in the receiver.... its a real kick in the balls to wait 4 months for a rifle and then only get 250 rounds thru her, but man it was a sweet 250!!
