Beware of gun shop : the last time I was in Edmonton, one of them told me that SKS were going to be prohib before the end of the month... but that's another one who told me that it is impossible to find .308 ammo "...because, in case you haven't notice, there's a war going on..."
I love gun shops

:bsFlag: qualified !!

Haha. The only thing like that I ever heard was when I went looking for some of this awesome south african 7.62x39.

That stuff isnt in Canada any more because of a UN trade embargo on the country where the ammo is made. It seems its such good ammo because its used to kill all sort of the wrong people over there so the world doesnt want anyone helping to pay for that.

As far as I know, lots of places have shipments of ammo coming in shortly.

I was told the same garbage at my local Can Tire; the guy told me that the Canadian forces and the Americans were using up all the 7.62x39 ammunition in Afganistan and Iraq. I wasn't in the mood to tell him that this wasn't a NATO standard round and if either us or the Americans were using it, it was only being used in small quantities by special forces dressed up like locals over there and using locals type weapons.

In a small way there is truth to that. But it starts with the commodities market. Copper, Lead, and Zinc have all skyrocketed in price because demand is up. Not only due to those elements that are flying downrange as bullets, but also as normal household items. There is a worlwide construction boom.

I think 95% of the troubles are with Canada's supply system though.

our market is controled by a very few importers who order things in from even fewer sources.

We just need to boost our own Canadian businesses like omma and... oh crap... what was the other company... Wolf?

From what I understand, our importers, can only order ammo that is on the governments 'approved list'. I'm sure the importers would love to be able to bring in lots of ammo, from many sources, but they aren't allowed to.:(

PS - why did the quote come out so crappy?

Now you are starting your own crazy rumours. There is no UN trade embargo on SA. I don't know why Bell isn't bringing more in, but it is likely price or availability related.

Czech X54 has been stopped. We have lots of X39 coming. There is another thread on this.

What government department exactly is it that is making it so hard to import milsurp ammunition? Is it solely related to mercuric primers?
Any progress on getting some .303 ammo in? There's lots of us waiting to buy a bunch of it...

gun stores are notorious for lieing about stuff like that. Especially a certain store near me

that wasn't really "near" for me : drove all the way to see the "big stores" in the "big city" and spend a year of hardly saved money...
I came back with 2 packs of SA ammo and some American Eagle  :puke:
I'll write a thread about them on day...and why I'm now dealing with US companies or Canadians one with a well known customer service.

BTW don't ask for the 10 rounds AR 15 mags in P&D they'll call you a criminal

BABY SEAL;
There is no UN embargo in place against SA, that was removed years ago....

The reason there is no SA Surplus ammo out there is based on a political decision in country, nothing more....

NORTHMAN 999:
I hate to argue BUT your infor is not correct....

The US Government has purchased and paid for tens of millions of rounds of military surplus 7.62x39 as they are paying to rearm the Iraquis.

First you invade, then you destroy all captured stocks of weapons and munitions, then you go out and buy replacement inventories.... Makes sense to me
