US Bear Hunter shot and killed in BC interior???

Yes, Global news report wasn't complete.

It left a little too much detail out to be able to piece a proper picture of the even.

Clearly noted that it wasn't ruled an accident, but not a homicide either.

Very, very sad.

Not to pick nits, but anytime a person is killed by another person it's "homicide". You're confusing "homicide" with manslaughter/murder.

What sort of testing is required to be a guide in this country? My guess is that it isn't anything remotely close to the training and apprenticeship process in Africa. Perhaps better training could prevent similar situations. Anyone who has hunted dangerous game in Africa knows that the PH almost invariably has you by the back of the shirt while maneuvering around downed dangerous animals. Usually if someone ends up shot over there it's the PH or a tracker shot by a client.

Still, bad situation. RIP to the hunter and condolences to the family.
