US Colt M4 vs Colt Canada C8A2

I've had the pleasure of frequently shooting the Colt Canada C8A2 and I know its specs pretty good. I have a US Colt M4 LE6921 on the way to me which on the outside is identical in every way to the C8A2 in every way that I'm used to, including the 14.5 barrel length. What I'm trying to figure out is what the differences are, most importantly if the M4 has a hammer forged barrel like the C8A2 does. I've done some google checks but no dice.

That was my biggest concern on differences. Not that it will make a big difference. I'd love to have a C8A2 in my collection, but I figured the M4 LE would be a very close second.

No idea, Colt got a waiver near the end of last year to start using the CHF barrel in the M4A1's

older spec stock and if I recall correctly there are no M4 feed ramps. Also weaver spec upper vs 1913.

Revisiting this... specifically the mentioned "older spec stock"

I have been able to obtain a Diemaco Triad rail for a future build. I tried to test fit it against the "stock" M4 fore stock and found the front end of the heat shield was too wide to allow the Triad to fit. Is the older spec style foregrips narrower at the front? From the side they look to have the same rib pattern. For further clarification, this is the foregrip for the 14.5 barrel length Colts, both the Cdn C8 and US M4 version.

Either the front stock/heat shield is narrower at the front side to side, or the Triad comes in different rail widths from C7 to C8 types.

Thanks. That clarifies which stock he was refering to. Anyone have any insight on whether the Triads rails made by Diemaco are all the same or if there are different versions of it for different length foregrips?

If anyone has a line on where I can obtain one of those "old" Colt M4 stocks I would be most appreciative. I don't like the look of the new "enhanced" buttstocks at all but the old style is exceedingly hard to find. Checked with Wolverine, nothing on the shelf and apparently Armalite stopped making that style a while ago.

Research has answered the question... didn't realize that carbine lenght foregrips/handguards game in different widths (skinny/fat)

I think there are at least 2 types of m4 barrel profiles out there as well

This is now the only barrel procured by the US Army



Colt Canada C8SFW barrel - which I think is called about three things now by the CF
