I'm looking for an AR scope for a flatop 16" M-4 Clone. I want something that looks military and works well 100 - 300yds (maybe farther) but also can be used indoors at a 25 yd range. Trijicon is apparently out of the question since they can no longer be imported. Is the US Optics SN-12 a good choice. I was thinking about a lit reticle and either the Circle Chevron or newer BDC reticle? At first I thought that it might have too much magnification for the indoor range (newbie) but then I saw the IOR 3X25 compact tactical scope which is supposed to be O.K. for CQB? Do you guys think that the SN-12 with 3.5X mag. is O.K. for shorter ranges?
IOR Field of View @ 100yds = 31ft
SN-12 F.O.V. @ 100yds = 42ft
I would think that the larger field of view might help?

The SN-12 is a fixed 3.5x scope, specifically design for A/R application. The SN-4 is in effect a variable power version, with wider application. SN-12 is shown below on my AR-10.

My opinion however the best scope that USO has for this application is the SN-3 1.8-10x44 Lit MOA, with the possible addition of the 90 click EREK knob.

If you go the SN-3 way, may as well go for the 3.8x17 or 3.8x22.
But I understand your logic, that is why I bought the doubler to get the most of my SN-4.

The EREK system is really nice to have for long range application, but not appropriate for an M4 plateform.

They also make the SN-3 in 5x25. Ordered one in Oct. still waitin.:(

Perhaps you mean the 3.8-22x58 EREK ERGO ARD with 35mm tube. I have one and it is currently on my 7mm WSM. Reticle is lit MOA. Very cool long range scope. This EREK by the way is a .25 x 22.5 MOA per turn of dial which will get you to better than 800 yards with one turn on the 7WSM.

Here is that scope on my M40A3 Clone.

Nice Pic DMCI! The model I have comming is a 5x25x58 T-Pal with 35mm tube etc. I didn't know they offered em until I started with my order. This was suggested to me and I went for it. Its going on top of a TRG-42,,waitin on it too.

Ask "sparrow" about the SN-12. He had one.

I saw it in person and it was an impressive piece of optical engineering.;)I got to look through it t=and the glass was clear. The illuminated chevron (IIRC) was nice and bright in direct sunlight.

IIRC, this piece of gear was around $3000.00 or so as it had some custom options.

SKBY.

Question for DMCI. Did you use a lapping bar to mount your ERGO with 35mm tube?

I had the guys in the shop make me one from brass stock but I'm thinkin surely at USO prices this sort of modification shouldn't be necessary. Any thoughts?
