US sanctions Russian firearms imports, missile-related technology exports to Moscow

WorldAugust 20, 23:25

The sanctions "include a restriction on the permanent importation of firearms or ammunition manufactured or located in Russia pursuant to new or pending permit applications. "

The United States has slapped Russia with a second round of sanctions over the incident with blogger Alexey Navalny, restricting imports of firearms and ammunition from Russia as well as exports of nuclear and missile-related technology to that country, says a statement released by Spokesperson for the US Department of State Ned Price on Friday.

It says that a second round of sanctions is imposed on Russia by the US Department of State under the Chemical and Biological Weapons Control and Warfare Elimination Act (CBW Act).

The sanctions "include a restriction on the permanent importation of firearms or ammunition manufactured or located in Russia pursuant to new or pending permit applications," it says.

"New and pending permit applications for the permanent importation of firearms and ammunition manufactured or located in Russia will be subject to a policy of denial," the Department of State noted.

In the meantime, the US Treasury imposes "further restrictions on nuclear and missile-related technology exports to Russia." The press release says that the sanctions will take effect on September 7 and "will remain in place for a minimum of 12 months." The sanctions may be lifted once Russia "has met several conditions.""

Billions of rounds of ammo now need to either be made in USA or imported.

Either way ammo prices just went through the roof again. While we might get some initial benefit as a greater supply of say Tula becomes available but everything else will go up.

i believe the US already restrict import of russian sks and svt so no impact on us.

but banning import of ammo that could make it cheaper here but i wouldnt count on it.

We need an importer to tell the Russians if the US won't take your ammo and primers we will gladly accept them . they make some good stuff .

This panic will be the same as every other gun/ammo panic in the US for the past twenty years-- pointless.

RAS (out of Florida) makes steel case ammo all over easten Europe. Wolf makes ammo in Taiwan. Tula will soon be setting up shop in other countries. And other countries and manufacturers will step in to get a share of the market that the temporary loss of Russian ammo will create.

Once the Russian manufacturers are set up overseas, the abundance of new production of will drive prices down. And, ironically, everyone will have Joe Biden to thank.

The rampant inflation that Trudeau-Biden policy was started will eat any chance of lower price for ammo.

Liberal government of Canada will follow orders of their political masters and will copy the restrictions ... so, less supply and higher prices ..

plus, it perfectly fits the schema of the Liberal agenda to destroy legal civilian ownership of firearms ..

FYI, ammo prices never go down. That's the affect of three decades of regular panic buying frenzies by a paranoia-heavy gun community.

Prices spike during panics, sellers gouge. When the panic ends, prices settle lower, though not below where they were before the panic.

However there is an argument to be made that the ban will embolden a lot of manufacturers world wide to step into the void created by the ban in US and expand capacity. Panics and social unrest don't create sustainable demand. Eliminating 40% of the supply does-- sustainable, reliable future demand is the kind of incentive ammo producers need to undertake an expansion in production capacity.

Yay, capitalism.

Wolf Gold in several calibers is not made in Russia. The .223 and 5.56 all comes from Taiwan. Pretty hot ammo. Other Gold comes from European companies.
Down here in the states we will still have this. I now expect Wolf will import a lot more for the US. Some one is importing brass cased Yugo surplus again.
Not at all cheap, but darned good rounds. Some here are now hoping Romanian steel case may come in again. Time will tell.
