Had to post this.

I recently saw an ad on the EE for a bunch of VZ58 equipment for sale in USD funds. The ad is asking for ~350 USD... and asks the potential buyer to do the conversion himself to Canadian funds 'becuase we are all just getting used to the change in CAD". WTF. This is a canadian website, you would think that people would post their ads in canadian currency... especially if they reside in Canada. I get it if a business who is located in the US sells merchandise in USD (Even that bugs me), but common people.. on the EE? seriously.

maybe its just me

I wouldn't even give that guy my business, if they want to act like a goof in their ad or even in PM trying to seal the deal I just forget it and walk away. When purchasing anything online it is up to the seller to make the buyer feel comfortable sending funds to them knowing that all it takes is for this guy to be a douche and walk away with my money.

I agree. I looked at that add. I was very interested at first. Nice stuff for sure! As soon as it got into the price and explanation of why it was in usd, I quit reading and moved on. Could just tell it wasn't the type of back and forth I was looking for in making a deal.

It's bad enough when you see all kinds of listings on ebay by Canadian sellers wanting US dollars but when it starts happening on Canadian sites I wouldn't give them the time of day.
A short while ago I was looking at something on ebay from a fellow in Ontario. I'm in Manitoba. I figured even though it was US dollars, the price was okay. His price for mailing said item was way too high to start with plus he wanted it in US dollars. I sent him a message telling him that I was interested in the item but if he thought I was going to pay for Canadian postage (which was waaay too much) in US funds, he was crazy. At least in this case he quickly lowered the postage by a little more than half and took it in Canadian funds.

Guess I'm the only one that wants to pay in US$. Thank goodness for buying US stocks that pays US$ dividend when $ was at par.

$1000US$ is less of sticker shock than $1400CAD.

You can make any wood look like that, put some laquer on it after some sanding, done, gives it that glossy musical instrument look. You could do it with the factory beaver barf too.

i would have to agree with most of you who said its not appropriate from an individual.

I can understand if its from a dealer bcos they pay in usd and exchange rate is volatile so its easier than adjusting the price upward every week.

so the question on my mind is, does this individual have more available or is this a one shot deal?

It is some nice looking wood...but I agree the USD thing is super lame.

Didn't see the thread but you can buy gorgeous Ironwood Designs wood for about $100 US less. IWD wood is impeccable and you can finish to your desire. I sold 4 refinished wood sets on the EE and the nicest one went for $200 cdn.
