going to sound like a newb but F**K it. i'm curious to know how exactly im suppose to use my bleat call? Do I let the whole call go? or do i give short calls?

The short answer "Yes" I try to do long ones when no deer are in sight and then only short ones when I can see them or know they are in the around.

A real doe bleat is about 3-4 seconds long. Volume is important as most times a deer hunter will not recognize a bleat from a real doe as it is so low at volume and short. The calls on the market tend to produce the same sounds but only in a higher (farther away) type call.
Bleats are really a location call made by doe and fawns in the dark but I have heard them from fawns by themselves in the light.

Buck grunts are the same only they tend to run longer unless you here the tending grunt that is somewhat higher in volume and very short blurts done in a row as the buck is chasing. The best realistic sound I have heard for a grunt is to take your finger and run it down the teeth on a comb...

Have killed several nice deer WT and a wall worthy Mulie buck using a bleat call to attract or stop them crossing cutlines.Mule deer can also be rattled in just like a WT.When deer talk it is very low and hard to hear so don't get too rammy on the call.First time I heard one it was only 10 ft behind me.Just about killed that one with the muzzle blast..........Harold
