Wow

What an eye opener, very fun to see that your loads are going as fast as the book says that they are supposed to be.
I was shooting my 19 Calhoon with a 27gr bullet and 11gr of Lilgun powder. The loading guide says this load with 11.2 gr should be 3560 fps and my 11gr load was right there.
Can't wait to get out again with some more rounds to try out. FS

I can't believe I waited so long to buy one. It is the coolest toy (tool) ever, and for what they cost you really can't go wrong. I find my velocities are usually higher than published.

Plus, on a slow day, you can shoot it to add some excitment!:dancingbanana:

might as well plug it on purpose next time your out, you know your gonna sooner or later anyways:D

Im looking around for a chrony, which one did you go with?

I went with the Alpha master red in colour, my partner's is the blue Beta master, shot with my own one again today.

With a guy that knows how to read all of the information off the screen, he was telling me just how poorly my ammo was grouping , DAMN Hornet was all over the place at 100 yards. At 50 yards earlier in the week in was much more accurate.
Ah the learning curve as a new re loader. FS

I'm confused hav'nt you been reloading for like a 100 years or something? :)

I bought a Chrony last summer, I've only tried it on my sons airsoft at home. I'm too keen to get shooting at the range to set it up. I'm gonna make an effort next time.

Brand cheerleaders will hate this BUT, there are brands that provide separation between the screens and the main unit (CED Millennium, PACT). These are cheaper in the long run because when you shoot your screens they can be replaced for 25 bucks instead of $250 for a whole new Chrony.

Should you decide to calculate your own BC's, and find yourself shooting through screens at 100 M, you'll appreciate the difference. Of course the response from the cheerleaders will be that you rarely do this, which is understandable given what you'd be risking in the event of a slightly wayward shot. My offhand guess would be that among CED and PACT owners there are a higher % that see merit in calculating BC's than among Chrony owners.

there are two kinds of shooters....those who have shot their chrony and those that will.....

I have been using Crony units since the original model came out,and I have yet to shoot a screen. However, nobody but me ever shoots over my Chrony, and I don't try to shoot groups through the chrony.I set the scope on low power and just concentrate on shooting through the opening.

I don't bother calculating B.C.s ,I simply shoot the load at any distance that I want to see the actual point of impact at.I have yet to find a more accurate method of determining the point of impact at a given distance.Have you?

I bought my first Shooting Chrony about 18 years ago other than hitting one of the metal rods once I never shot it.

Then earlier this year I sent it back to Shooting Chrony to trade up to a brand new Beta model with the screen that sits on the bench, took it to the range for the first time with a brand new to me 45 Colt one of the first 10 shots hit the back of the chrony's body and cut a wire... :p

Sent it back and now have another brand new Beta model Shooting Chrony...

I have owned a CED for over a year and I have yet to pull it out of the box.
The CED is a good unit, but nothing beats the Chrony for quick setup.

Unless you are going to shoot 600 yards or more you wont get accurate BC info.
Like Stubblej said, nothing beats actual drop figures from real targets...You can extrapolate BCs from that better than anything else.

For the record I killed the sky screens 15 years ago, but I have yet to shoot my Chrony....There have been a few near misses.

Its the same with motorcycles regarding falling off. There are those that have, those that will and those that just bloody well ain't trying. :D
