He guys I am trying to get some info as well as track down a barrel for my 10/22. Checked the post here as well as rimfire central and all the guys on that forum advise me that they can ship a used barrel or even a new barrel in the mail because they are not stores.

Is this legal ?

In my experience, there are a few things that can keep the problems to a minimum. Keep the weight under 4 pounds, and keep the value under $100, and have whoever sends it mark it as a 22LR barrel. I have received many barrels from individuals in the US and have not had a problem yet. It most likely will be opened by customs, but this seems normal for most gun parts. Canada has no laws against this, business' in the States have to abide by their own export laws. Good luck. later

Anyone exporting barrels from the US is subject to US export controls, business or individual. Folks are free to do as they please, of course, but the penalties for violation of US law can be severe.

It would seem that Cdn. authorities are content to collect taxes, and the tax collection fee. If the day comes that they ever decide to contact their US counterparts, and let them know that a barrel just arrived in Canada without a US export licence, things will get interesting.
There is provision in Canadian law making it an offence to import a barrel without a Cdn. import permit - but I do not think that this law has come into effect at present.
There is a loooooong stickied thread dealing with export issues. It would probably be worth reading.
