Im looking at a fairly well used 96D and was hoping for some input from the experts as what to look for before purchasing is as i have NO experience in this area.

I know you should replace the recoil spring but dont know what weight to go with.
Any info on this gun would be welcomed.

Check the locking block, check the ejection port and the whole slide for cracks, check the frame rails.

I would replace the recoil spring with a factory replacement, or u could upgrade to a steel rod and spring from wolf gunsprings.

That model has a thicker slide from the factory so it should last a long time.

Hope this helps

Thanks!
Like I said I dont know $#!+ about hand guns so once i figure out what a locking block is ill be good to go. LOL
Its not a private sale so im thinking the shop gave it a once over but I will absolutely give it a good once over.
A test fire would be preferred but im not sure if thats even remotely possibly.

A locking block cost under $30 and takes about 5 mins to change out, so even if it needs to be replaced, it is not a big deal. Abnormal wear, cracks etc is what I would look for, you might want to remove the grip panles as well.
