Used Germany made Diavari vs New Conquest

How are the optics between these?


Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 vs Zeiss Diavari 3x9x36

Diavari must be mid 90's or before to be W. German made.

I have owned the German made Diavari,the U.S. made Diavari and the Conquest.I preferred the German made Diavari over the other two.If I remember correctly,the German Diavari had the T coating on the lenses,while the other two use a different coating.

Unfortunately there are MC and T coated German Diavari's

I have several Zeiss with T* coating ...they are all German made (assembled/boxed?) anyway I was always of the opinion that T* coating was superior to "MC" coating but I have absolutely no evidence to back that up and Zeiss's own site does not make any distinction I can find....fwiw

I have read that each lens and lens type/position in the optical path is best served by specific approaches to coating eg not all lens benefit from the same treatment.

T are widely thought to be superior to MC. I cannot vouch for that myself.
