Finally got my 1911 home today! As soon as I did it was straight to the range. Didnt shoot any paper, just went out and shot at the steel drop targets. I took some photos of it and when we were shooting it. It was really accurate, never jammed or misfired. I do however have a question about the make of frame. The slide is quite faded as compared to the frame and I was wondering if this is all original parts, or mixed frame and slide. Any info would be great.

I also took pics of my Taurus PT99. Shot alot with it today too. I bought the Taurus around the same time I bought the 1911, but I got it much sooner so I didnt take any pictures of it until now.

I ####ing knew it. I KNEW I should have. When I posted this I was contemplating on whether or not to put in some sort of disclaimer. Something along the lines of: "Please do not tell me to get a haircut, call me a hippie, or generally bash my suave looks.":D

Although... I guess there is a resembalance. I have a cheesy looking vest to wear though.

That's definately not a Colt frame.

BTW looking at your pics, your hammer appears to be resting in the half #### position. Did you lower the hammer manually?
 
Interesting 1911 parts gun or 'mix-master' as they say... Not a Colt frame. But as long as it shoots & you have fun, then what the heck... ;)

And I was going to mention that it's blasphemy to put a Colt 1911 in the same picture as a Taurus... but since it's not a real Colt, I won't mention it. :p
 
Very nice. Gotta love the classic look of the real 1911 (or at east the slide from a real 1911).

It's hard to tell by the pics what kind of finish that is on the frame. It doesn't look like bluing. Is it spray 'n bake or anodized aluminum?

Its some sort of bake on finish, I dont think its aluminum though. I tried searching the numbers but nothing came up of any use when I searched M911A1. Does anyone have any idea what type of frame it might be? I have to wait for the registration to come in the mail so I can see what it is registered as.

I've easily owned over a hundred different 1911's over the years... And a lot of them Colt mfg. But I've never seen a 1911 frame marked like yours. :eek:

My bet is that the CFC will still have it registered as a Colt, Model 1911A1, though. Because, that's what they do... :rolleyes:
 
Try a magnet on the frame , if it sticks it is steel. If it doesn't it could be stainless steel ( coated, painted ?) or probably aluminum.

Yeah, it was nice, the sun was out, it was cold as a ##### in the wind, but our range is downhill with trees on either side so it turned out alright.

I have an ATT that allows me to transport any restricted firearms I own to any gunclub, so as soon as I picked up the pistol it was off to the range, no down time.

Yep, Safariland 6004, I love it. The gun fits in tight and draws smoothly from it. It was worth the money spent. It seems solid, the straps are adjustable and elastic like, it feels really comfortable on my leg.

Well, I posted over on the M1911 fourms and found out the frame is made by a company called Imbel. Are they a decent gun manufacturer? What are they priced like? Seems decent, it was accurate and the trigger and hammer are both really smooth. I enjoyed shooting this gun.
