used norc m305 parts help

Picked up a used m305 and I was taking it apart to see how it worked. I read that you should change the op rod spring guide . Does this one look like its already done? If so do you know who made it? No markings on it that I can find. Thanks

Looks to me like an M14.ca spring guide. This is an upgrade from the stock spring guide which as lerch says, is flat.
 
Ensure that the spring has been replaced as well.

Even then, I would caution against shooting "any" .308 ammunition. I recently learned that different powders can cause an over pressure in the gas system, causing the bolt to get jammed in the receiver.

Stick to federal blue box 150 grain and you'll be fine. In my case, I was shooting Hornady blue box 150 grain, likely loaded with varget powder, and causing the above issue. I have a m14.ca op rod guide, but the factory norc spring.
 
No, you can't shoot any .308. M-305 does not have an adjustable gas system, an is made, by design, to not shoot anything over 168 grain. Stick to 168 grain and lighter. 180 gr will beat your gas system. Also, soft points will likely not feed properly. Stay with pointy bullets.
 
Oh and yes you can shoot 308 ammo, but not all of them. You have to stay within a specific ammount of pressure and FPS and you should do some research about that. I've had pierced primer with Hornady white tail before, and it's known to be ''safe'' because it is only 150gr (or 168, I forgot.) I've also rear on another forum that the 180gr corelokt had the same ammount of pressure as the military ball ammo they were using with the actual M14... so make your own research.
