I already own a Ruger SR1911, GSG .22lr, and a S&W PD Commander and was looking to get a 1911 in 9mm. The Sam pistols look nice for the money a d reviews are good but I have not heard any reviews on the 9mm version. I plan on feeding what ever I get pretty generously and some IDPA matches here and there so I want something that runs reliably. Thanks

I've never found 9mm 1911's to be too picky, running a stainless SAM commander and it's a really good shooter. Was accurate out of the box, needed nothing done to it. I use to have a GOV 9mm but dumped it when I got the commander.... Just handles way better, plus it's a puny cartridge so it's better suited to a smaller gun lol

I just got the SAM thunderbolt in stainless .45, I have yet to get to the range (can't wait!) but if it shoots half as well as it's built, I stole it from wolverine at just over $600!!!! Freaking awesome piece of kit!

The Enhanced version has better sights than the GI types found on some of the Sams, I find I shoot the Commander length gun better than the full size ones.

I haven't handled or shot a SAM but I've done somewhere around a dozen mags from an STI Ranger II commander length. The compact commander 1911 and 9mm go together like PB and jam! ! ! So I'm looking at the replies on the SAM version and starting to get an itchy wallet finger.

I owned a SAM 1911 titan framed .45acp. Gun shot well enough. It did not like semi wad cutters at all though, only round nosed. Now... I've been accused of having a screw loose before, but the front adjustable sight was forever loosening up on me. Terrific fit & finish. I would not recommend the smaller titan frame by any manufacturer. Less mass, significant muzzle jump when the gun cycles (duh, its physics). Have no concern about the SAM quality though, I was very impressed. I simply gave in to the compulsion that I wanted a titan framed 1911, and I strongly disliked shooting it.

i agree with ya on that.
my dad picked up a titan and a commander - the commander i liked so much i picked up a couple but the titan...... just a little too small for the 45, half the time i was waiting for it to jump out of my hands and land somewhere behind me in the grass.

Very nice! Where did you find a Sam commander in 9mm?
