I just bought some Lapua brass… all the Lapua brass I have seen before came in cheap boxboard, but this latest batch came in a fancy, blue, hard plastic case that looks to nice to just toss out. I found this in a google search:
“Lapua is now shipping their 100 count boxes of brass in a reusable plastic box that instantly transforms into a 50-round ammo box when emptied. Inside the box on the lid is a grid that contains holes for 50 loaded rounds of ammunition or empty brass. Simply lay the grid across the supports inside the box and it's now converted to an ammo box.”
One use I see is to take the underside of the lid and use it as a reloading tray. It seems that to make use of this tray you would need to cut the lid off and use the grid while it is still stuck in the lid; it will probably break off after opening and closing a few times anyway since the case is not hinged with pins, just a fold of plastic. The bottom of the container has a similar ‘rack’ but the rings are too shallow and cases are easily knocked over when placed in them.
So are there any other ideas on how to make these new boxes useful? Maybe I am just too bored today…
