Hello M14 experts,

Strange thing happen to my HRT Usgi bolt a while back...

When shooting the bolt extracted its extractor. What I mean is the extractor shot out of the bolt on the return to stroke and was lost in the brush.

I've had this bolt for a while and probably put 400+ rounds through it with no problems.

All parts were USGI. Springs were Wolf.

The bolt body looks completely fine...

How did this happen? The extractor holds the whole bolt together and all of the other parts look like they are undamaged.

Most importantly can I replace the extractor with a norinco one?

... if not can 762mm ship these to me free of hassle?

Maybe someone has a USGI one lying around who'd like to make a great profit off of?

Like always help is greatly appreciated.

It's not a no-no because the parts are not USGI. They are commercial manufacture for a commercial semi-auto M14/M1A. You can also order an M1A extractor from Brownells - no problem.

I'd stay away from m1a extractors... i've had them fail after less than 100 rounds.

Marstar has m1 garand extractors that will work in your m14 bolt...they're a little pricey though.

Hard to say exactly why your extractor shot out. It may be due to the weak spring and therefore weak friction or it in rare cases may be that the extractor pin extends slightly beyond the bolt on the bottom. From the bolt going back and forth during loading, there are cases where the extractor bumped up because of rubbing.

I have an extra 1 laying around if you do end up needing 1 just PM me.

I would stay clear of the M1A extractor , the Norinco one would be a better choice.
When you install it make sure the tail of the extractor does not stick out the bottom of the bolt . Make sure that it is flush or below flush.
