I just saw one sell on Ebay for $140. !!!???

An American service rifle shooter gave me his parts kit. In it is a brand new, never issued flash hider. It rings like a tuning fork.

What is it worth in Canada?

Sounds about right.

I paid $50 on EE, but that was rare. Never used it though, thought my sight base was cut un-square, turns out its a barrel timing problem. I've seen up to $100, for new SA ones NM cut. I'd prefer the USGI one over the newer dark blue look ones.

Do they fit without much trouble? and excuse my ignorance but whatis this EE you speak of?

Equipment Exchange, in this case the parts section for Modern Military rifles.

They slide right on, along with the castle nut (need special pliers for this) and one set screw. If you have a stock Nork or Poly, getting your old one off might present a challenge, as some are spot welded on.

I bought one for reason I listed. I found out two things on my Nork.

1. The splines are ever so slightly smaller in the US hider, therefore a little play if you rotate it before setting the castlenut tight.

2. The Nork castle nut would not accept the US hiders lock screw. I had to lightly file the corresponding slot in the nork nut whenl tight, to allow the screw to pass into it and lock it.

This may be just my rifle, so after I realized it was a slight barrel index issue and not my sight base cut crooked, I but the Nork hider back on.

$ 29.95 at keepshooting.com, top quality with bayonet lug. I replaced the flash arrestor on my M1A with this one because of the bayonet lug. Springfield won't ship to Canada with the bayonet lug.

Careful on that one for 29.95. It says Mil spec, not USGI. It looks a little like the one I have, and remember what I said about spline slop.

lol relax, it's fine. I have one on my rifle and it pings.

I don't see the difference between USGI and mil-spec, they're both mil-spec so it shouldn't matter who made it or where it came from. Maybe I'm an uninformed annoying gun noob but amirite or what?

Just to bump it up again. I have tried 3 sets of mastercraft special Alan keys, and none of the fits. I am maybe misteriously missing the right key or do I need a special Chinese si metric abortion?? I don't want go nuts with my dremmel yet.

The Milspec one I bought that looks like the one in picture is cut slightly smaller than my Nork barrel splines. This means rotational play . Not a great idea in my mind for the front sight to be able to rotate left or right slightly. The Nork hider slides tightly in the barrel cuts. So (A) is my Nork hider spec and the Milspec not exactly? (B) The Nork barrel and hider are not cut to spec, but fit each other properly. Just my observation. Perhaps you could tell me if your Milspec F/H is snug sliding into the slots on your barrel, before tightening the nut?

my mil.spec is slightly smaller in the alignment lugs but if you pay attention to this as you tighten up the castle nut then you don't have an issue ...my Norc wasn't straight to begin with so this was a better option for me ...
