USGI Stock fits loose at the front of the stock

So I’ve bought a USGI stock and filled in the selector hole and built up the dam to keep the op-rod retainer from shooting loose, but when I fit my receiver/ barrel assembly in the USGI stock I get a lot of play around the Stock Ferrule and barrel. I can wiggle it up and down.

I can grab the berrel and move it up and down with the USGI stock not moving at all.

What’s the best way to take up this loose area? – should I use some JB weld under the gas cylinder to tighten it up?

The movement you are describing there is normal.

As per National Match Specs, you polish the bottom of the stock ferrule and use a little dab of grease to prevent binding.

You do not really want to have hard/tight contact around the gas cylinder. The U.S. Military M14 Match shooters never "bedded" the gas cylinder.
