USGI Stock---should I paint it?

I just bought a fiberglass USGI stock from Turf on EE. Turf has already primed it and added a coat of textured desert tan by the looks of it. Selector switch is not filled yet...

What kind of prep do I need to do to add more paint to the stock? I think I may make kind of a desert camo paint scheme. Do you guys use stencils? I have never done this kind of thing before so any advise would be very helpful.

I would say that looks pritty sweet as it is! but if you want to DO IT! I really like skullboys work.
um what is the point in filling the selector?? Ive never really got that.

I would fill the selector opening and then repaint. You can find that kind of pebble sand paint just about anywhere so it should be a pretty simple job to just touch it up or redo the entire stock.
 
Is there such a thing as a fake selector switch?? I have most of the stock stripped and almost ready to fill the selector switch. I did like the texture of that paint turf used, but I have a few cans of Krylon Camo paint already picked up.

Is there an easy way to get the paint out of the grip pattern?? I have been using a fine punch to clean out the grooves but it is hard work. Also, what kind of primer should I use?
 
There is a dummy selector swtch made by a fellow in the U.S. he goes by the handle of "Sparrowhawk" on the M14 Forums.

I made my own out of a USGI selector parts kit.



I also had to modify the Norinco Op Rod as it has no selector link cutout.


If you are going to strip the stock for repainting, use laquer thinner.It will strip off the old paint reallyy well, and remove the paint from the handgrip.
