Using a rifle scope on a pellet rifle

I think Trident and Kamloopy have the score on this. I'd get a .223 bolt to put that scope on and use some of your 'excess' ammo. Also, with Nikon getting 'out of ' scopes, I wouldn't want to damage what you might not be able to get fixed. I just bought a Bushnell instead of a Nikon for just that reason. my .223 bolt does fine with a Bushnell 600DOA 4-12. But I don't shoot over 220y.

An expensive scope on a break action piston air rifle ?

The scope is mounted on the receiver not the barrel. No matter how good the workmanship, there is going to be some play in the joint and you will likely never achieve the repeatability/precision you would with almost any 22.

Learn to use the barrel mounted iron sights. Maybe upgrade them.
