I have just finished modifying an extended shell holder to fit up inside the collet of a lee collet die and the cap of the die to allow the decapping rod to slide in further so that I can use the die to neck size 17 rem fireball brass. Just wondering if others have made similar or different modifications to the dies and/or shell holders to be able to neck size other caliber than the available dies sizes?

I Used 6.5 Swede collect die to neck size 6.5 Carcano.Works like a charm. It sizes down only about 1/2 of the neck but for NOE 145 6.5 bullet that's enough for a good grip.

I did ground down one die to size entire neck of Carcano brass and it worked just as good. Some other CGNer is enjoying it now.

I'm sure there are lots of different FL dies that could be used for a different cartridge to neck size it. Just need to make sure the die body is bigger then the cartridge. It's actually beneficial to only partially size the neck as well as the bullet will align better with the bore.
I've used a 7rm FL die to neck size 7x64 and 280Rem. Any of the short mags would work good too with longer cartridges...300wsm would neck size just about any 308 cartridge out there. Just follow Hornady multi-cartridge neck size die instructions.

This has me thinking. I have tried and neck sized 257 Weatherby in a 25-06 die and now I'm going to try the 280 in a 7 RM die. I just checked to see if a 300 RUM would fit in a 300 Win mag, but the body would not fit in the collet. I would think this would be the same problem with the lapua case being to large
