I'm thinking this probably won't work, but are scope rings designed in pairs simply for the scope withstanding recoil or does it protect against other issues?

ie. could you use one scope ring on a scope that is designed to withstand up to .375 and then put it on a .22 or would this cause issues/not work at all? If so, I'm curious.. Why? :)

One ring should work fine, so long as the base its mounted to is true to the boreline or close enough to allow enough internal adjustment for a proper zero. Two rings is obviously a more secure mounting solution but on a rimfire a single ring would work.

I used a single ring on my fvsr with a banner 1-4x32 when I first picked it up.
I couldn't wait to shoot it and that's the only spare stuff I had laying around. Still shot amazing groups at 25 yards.
