Using Sako 85 open sights, are they good?

Good day folks,

I'm looking for opinions on Sako's model 85 rifle open sights. I looking at picking one of these up and using it as is for hunting mostly for 200 yards or less. Unfortunately I'm unable to check one out locally so it will be a mail order.

Does anybody have any experience with these? Are they a good, adjustable hunting sight or more of a "backup" when you're out in the thick and your scope inexplicably packs it in?

Any information would be great.

I used the sights on the Sako 85 Bavarian Carbine, it shot point of aim at 50 metres, if that helps.

I get that, but are they decent in lower light, do they provide a good sight picture? I'm more used to using rifles with open sights that have a rear aperature instead of buckhorn style. Just wondering if it's a convenient setup.

I'd say they are back up sights...The old Sako peep sight fits on the 85 but the front sight blade will have to be filed way down for the peep to work...anyway that's my experience with a 30-06 Bavarian carbine.
