Hey Guys,

I just bought an Remington 870 wingmaster with I think a 27 inch barrel and a modified choke. I have shot regular shotgun loads through it and it works beautifully! I am new to shotguns and so I was wondering if I could use slugs with this gun and if there would be any problems that might occur or any damage to the bore of the barrel?

Thanks,

M

Is it a late 870 with a barrel made for steel shot, if it is, may be too large for even foster slugs that is why you see unrifled slug barrels offered not just for the shorter length. If its an older barrel there is a difference in Dia. brand to brand

No safety concerns, it will shoot slugs just fine. It won't be quite as accurate at longer distances as a shotgun barrel that is fully rifled, but the rifled slugs your shotgun shoots are a fraction of the price - so all is good. :)

You should be fine shooting slugs out of your shotgun. Just remember that rifled slugs are for smoothbore shotguns, and sabots are for rifled barrel shotguns.
