Using small pin upper on large pin lower questions

when you get a flatop you will require 1.5" centre height rings anyway - and the lows will require you to get a raiser mount...

I agree. Someone needs to do an FAQ stickie that addresses large pin vs. small pin uppers, flat top vs. carry handle rings and mounts, and also addresses the nuances of Colt made AR's and which pins are often non-standard in the fire control group.

Even AR15.com doesn't do a great job of providing "AR15 for newbies" type info.

N-S, thanks for the info! I was hoping you'd have a chance provide some insight. I've had not any issues with rotation of the offset pin--I do remember you mentioning this last year when we did the swap.

Go for it! I've been jonesin' for a second AR myself...maybe a 14.5" or 11.5". I'll think (when/if I can afford it :shock: ) I'd like to go for a complete rifle...mine's set up good now for SR..what I need is a good CQB AR!

Oh, yeah! I couldn't believe how short it was overall--completely different from a 20" barrel.
