Using Tikka T3 for a LA caliber - AI mag issues

I have read a lot about LA calibers in the T3 action, and there issue with using the 300 win mag AI mags. Is there any fixes for this? I am looking at getting a varmint in either 300 win mag or 7mm rem mag. I wanted the KRG whiskey but on their site they say there system can't be used with T3 in a LA caliber because of feeding issues. Any thoughts?

I sold my 300 wm do to lack of coal, after market bottom metal won't fix this. Buy the wsm, and I think you can mod the factory mags to 3.380 let you seat the bullets anywhere you want. Have just done this seems to be okay so far. Say I think because I want to test it further.
 
I think you can fit wsm round in a mag for 338 win and then modify the bolt stop if needed to allow the bolt to pick up the round. Not 100% on that but it was something I wanted to look into further to try the matrix .277 165 grain vld's in a wsm case for a cheap lightweight longish range option.

I have moded a tikka 223 mag for 80 grain Bergers and it usually worked good but sometimes the rounds would nose dive in the mag and not feed properly
 
I wanted to do the ai mag conversion for my 6.5x55 but didn't like all the problems i heard,,. So i just bought a bottom metal from atlasworkx that uses factory mags. And i heard from tikka performance they will be making a 10 shot long action mag that are compatible. I don't like the idea of spending the time or money to buy an ai mag and fiddle and bend it or file it until it works,. What if you lose it, then you have to start all over. I just want to buy a mag and have it be useable

I tend to think we're working on extremely similar projects...
I've ordered a MDT 6.5 magazine- delivery pending- but the migration to a unique 5 round magazine already has me questioning the purchase of it...Let alone buying a stock expressly for it.
A ten round option would sway my opinions considerably and compatibility with OFM would be a plus.
However, they still offer LA options for the T3.
 
Yes you can just change the bolt stop on the T3 300WSM, bought at Brownells, and buy a 300WM magazine. Then your good to go for seating the bullet to the lands.
I was going to do that, but I bought a Fierce Edge instead. So now I have to sell my T3 stainless camo 300WSM, which I have only put a box of ammo through!!

I put it on a Robertson composite stock that had a very tight tolerance to the factory one and i had to remove a very slight amount of the fiberglass on the inside just by the mag release button. They are ever so slightly different. Took me less than 5 min. On a factory tikka stock would be just a straight swap. Functionality wise it works the same as the factory one. No issues after shooting a few boxes through it.
The factory Plastic one moulds nicer around the mag, the atlas is more square but it works good.
