Any comments? Suggestions for gear?

Good choice for Prod Division...

I'd go see Frank from 2 Alpha at his new range and he can fix you up

Personally, I'd rcommend the Speedsec Holster....and what ever mag pouches fit your budget

Cheers

yeah its great. You might want to go custom sport and get black sites and match trigger. Very accurate gun. Also capable of being shot extremely fast..lol. Easy to clean. For holsters you have lots of choice. Any specific you wanted to know?

I use one of two different USP's.
My new (er) one started off as a Stainless V1. i installed the sporting trigger(match trigger kit) and fibre optic sights, and changed it to a V3 with a $12 part. (no external safety, as it really is not needed)
I feel I shoot better using a 124gr bullet at around 134 pf. (combat masters ammo)
I used to use 147gr factory ammo, but it is too hot for this game.
I find the mag release is fast for mag changes, as I use my trigger finger. however the magwell on the USP is flared very little. It just takes some dryfire practice to get that working well.:D

I use a Speedsec, but use a Bladetech belt once in a while. I also have the Bladetech dropped and Offset (DOH), which is a good compromise between a race holster and a secure belt holster.

For mag pouches I use Gugas Ribas, but would also recommend the CR speed, and Freedom Ventures line of JR pouches.

try the safety for abit... Mo is right and you probably dont need it, but I like it all the same. Its basically a 1911 type so if you keep it and eventually move into standard it works out ok.

I use a USP 9mm in a Bladetech holster for Production. I added the Match Trigger but kept the fixed sights. It's been good to me so far.

I am with you Dan! I just bought a Glock for IPSC myself! I used one for the BB course, and loved the fit and feel I would say the accuracy, but I don't call myself blindman for nothing! LOL! USP is a great gun too!..Buy both!

I use a 9mm USP Custom Sport and love it. I use a Laroche Leathers competition holster which is dropped and offset and I use Uncle Mikes double mag pouches. I find the set up works great for me. I have never been a fan of race holsters.

I also agree with the comment on using the trigger finger for the mag changes which works great.

I already use the trigger finger for that: I have to move my grip a bit to do it, but I'm sure that with practice it won't matter :)

I use my trigger finger for mag changes, my finger goes off the trigger, and out of the trigger guard, and back to the mag release (like a cobra recoiling:rolleyes: ). I find I would have to adjust my grip to use my thumb for mag changes.
not sure what ammo you may like, but I seem to be doing better with the 124gr at 134 pf.

I'll try them all and see which one my USP prefers: I have a sneaking suspicion it will be middle-of-the-road.

Also, how resistant is the slide to holster wear/damage ?

depends on the holster and the finish of the pistol (ie: stainless vs Blued). I found the Fobus does the most damage. Bladetech seems to wear very little, and the speedsec only wears a little around the trigger guard (where is rests)

If you are worried about scratches then get a stainless slide on your USP. They are fantastic - I have used a cheap crappy Fobus for my USP SS and you notice no scratches, but on blued pistols it is another story.

Holster wear with a leather holster on the Black Finished USP seems fine, alittle greying but nothing major. Its a tough finish, I wouldnt worry about it.

How big of a difference does the match trigger do? I've noticed a long trigger pull in DA on my SS USP9, but the SA is great.
