So I went to the USPSA Area 6 Championship this past Friday in Lake Okeechobee, Florida.

I heard that Manny Bragg was going to do this one...I knew things would be good

My hope was rewarded with an amazing experience.

Manny and his partner Gorka of Extreme GM laid out 12 really fun and challenging stages. The match was held on what I can only say was the nicest shooting facility I've ever been lucky enough to attend. The OK Corral is an amazing club. They actually have a professional chef for the club restaurant!

I was in a really fun squad of hard working shooters; never did we get the whip snapped for not pasting - things flowed great. We got to shoot behind a squad of really good shooters like National Production Champ Alex Berdat, Frank Garcia, Casey Reed and Gilbert Perez, so we got to catch them and watch them run stages. We finished on time and I was still ready to run another few stages.

Rumor has it Manny has the match again next year - so if you can head to Florida in April next year for this match, I highly recommend it.

Here's my video shooting some of the stages. I managed to win the first stage (stage 3) in single stack. I'm OK with my 4th in the division; the three above me are great shooters - (Arrowood, Perez and Canada's James Smith - 2016 Nats Classic Champ- and my shooting buddy) but I'd like to have a better percentage - a decent starting point for training this season.

If only you knew about the magic of shooting major pf.
You probably would have won.

Well done though.

Great shooting!!!!
Wish I can do that. Muzzle do not flip at all. Love it love it!
Question, how to train to get good recoil management like that?
Also, what is that guide rod?

Thank you very much for the video.

Looked like an awesome match!
It was! Great venue, great staff, great designs!

Great shooting!!!! Wish I can do that. Muzzle do not flip at all. Love it love it!
Thanks, Campro 147s 132PF with a Vhit N310 load; the 5.4" STI Slide doesn't recoil much to begin with.

I could say take Eric's or Manny's or Max's courses - which have all been great - but to be honest - just shoot a LOT of rounds and grip the hell out of the gun as much as you can. Alex Berdat mentions in on of his dryfiring posts on FB to make sure you replicate grip in dry fire - he's right on with that!

Also, what is that guide rod?
A very worn doubletap sports plastic guide rod. The STI DVC Classic is a heavy gun. It makes the USPSA weight limit just barely with a mag that has a plastic base pad.
I use Dawson metal bases on my mags; so I had to put the gun on a diet somewhere to compensate and the light guide rod worked just right.

Thank you very much for the video.
You're very welcome.
