How does one living in Canada, get classified in USPSA,.....?
Do shooters go to the USA to shoot a classifier, or would it be done at local matches that hold a classifier under USPSA rules.

Go to USPSA.org's excellent website and it will tell you all you need to know, including affiliated clubs in Canada where you can shoot USPSA classifiers.
You can join USPSA online.

AFAIK the only affiliated club in Canada is Burlington Rifle & Revolver Club (Ont). USPSA classifiers are held there a few times a year.

Maurice, check out the USPSA Area 7 http://www.uspsa7.org/ for clubs in your area. Those of us living in southern Ontario regularly drive to New York, Michigan, & Pennsylvania to compete.

There is a special classifier April 22nd in Michigan if you want to get classed before you attend match....

You do not need to actually be a member of USPSA in order to shoot any match in the States... Your IPSC membership in Canada will allow you to shoot it and win match but not class...
You do however need to be classed and a member of USPSA in order to win class... you will need to shoot one of their special classifiers at a local club near you or come on down to Windsor and we'll bring you to Michigan for their match well before the match you wish to win class at... If you are shooting just 1 or a couple save some cash and shoot it for fun

ALSO if you do get classed and shoot a STI gun and wear a STI shirt you will also win 350 USD(if you win your class) that you can use with Freedon Ventures.... But if you're only shooting the match for fun then just bring your IPSC membership info and have at it... don't forget to pre register with area 7 good match

You don't need to be a member of USPSA, you just need to get your entry form countersigned by the Regional Director for IPSC Canada, not sure who that is. You can't get classified other than in the region where you are resident, which means Canada, that's an IPSC rule see rule 6.5 of the rulebook. You're not classified when you enter a US match, so you're either going for fun or going to win the whole thing.

If you want to compare internationally, you have to look at ICS on the IPSC website, assuming you've shot ICS classifiers.

so the short of it is, if I want to get classified in USPSA, I need to have a USPSA membership, and shoot USPSA Classifiers.
My ICS makes no difference in the USA, as they do not recognize it.

I thought I read that somewhere. Interesting. thanks for the replies.
thanks Dan,

The IPSC match is the Targeting Education Match in Michigan this May. It is all sold out. :(

You may want to contact BLACK if you want to find out when the next USPSA classifications will be held in Ontario. He is the only rep for this area.
