Hi,

So, with Area 7 and Area 8 matches coming up, any USPSA rules which we, used to IPSC rules, need to be made aware of? I know of the no-speed-holsters thing for Production, got myself DOHs... Anything else?

Thanks!

I know this won't effect you but PT's are -10 per hit no max.... everything else as far as production goes is the same ... oh yeah max 10 rounds... and no min trigger pull so slap in that trigger job... rubber sleeves... action work to enhance reliability (throating, trigger work, etc) is allowed

and here is the biggie for you.....under special conditions... 21.2 Front sights may be trimmed, F.O. inserted, adusted and/ or have sight black applied. Sights must be of the notch post type.....

Start position - "Standing in Box A" >> typically standing on Box A is acceptable. Sometimes it helps for balance, or if the box is small.

If you go here http://www.uspsa.org/rules/Handgun_15th_2004.pdf the differences in US rules are preceded by US, and the rule is in Italics

Example:

5.2.2 Competitors carrying their handgun in a holster must have an
empty magazine well, and the hammer or striker must be decocked.
Violation will incur a warning for the first occurrence but
will be subject to Section 10.6 for subsequent occurrences in the
same match.
US5.2.2 Competitors carrying their handgun in a holster must have an
empty magazine well, and the hammer or striker must be decocked.
Anyone found in violation of this rule will be immediately
escorted by a Range Officer to a suitable range or safety area
where appropriate corrective action shall be made.

You will hear odd range commands.

Before LAMR you will most likely hear:
  • Do you have any questions?
or
  • Do you understand the COF?
At the end of the COF you may hear:
  • If you are finished....
  • If clear, slide forward, hammer down, holster.

I know that's a sore spot in USPSA, but I don't think it's true. (yet)

What about my favorite "You ready, ok , Gas it up"

oh and sight pictures
8.7.3 Taking sight pictures can be done on multiple targets... and if I read US8.7.1 and 8.7.3 rule correctly which says IPSC rule 8.7.1 and 8.7.3 is not applicable gun can be loaded ( rule 8.7.3. says unloaded gun one target)

9.4 Scoring and Penalty Values

9.4.1
Scoring and penalty shots on IPSC targets shall be scored in accordance with the values approved by the IPSC General Assembly. (See See : IPSC Poppers. , See : IPSC Plates. , and See : IPSC Targets. ).

9.4.2
All hits visible on the scoring surface of a penalty target shall be penalized the equivalent of twice the point value of a maximum scoring hit.

9.4.3
All misses will be penalized as twice the value of the maximum scoring value on that target.

so there isn't a max of 2 hits per penalty targets scored each hit is -10 with no max.... copied this from USPSA's on-line rule book

Well, sounds like nothing major, and nothing that would get you DQ'ed in USPSA but would be fine in IPSC... re the whole scoring things, well, I'm a very non-confrontational ipsc shooter, I never challenge officials on their calls/etc, so I'm sure things will be fine ;)

nothing about muzzle-above-the back stop during mag changes/etc, like they have in France/Europe?

Just keep an eye on what they are calling. Like any match the RO's can get tired and make a mistake. At the Targeting Ed match I was patching and the RO called out A,C and it was 2 A's. I stopped him and he corrected himself and carried on. (The shooter was checking his other targets so he wouldn't have noticed this)

I personally don't know how they do this for 4 day with out making a few mistakes, If it was me I'd be calling out scores in my sleep by the 2nd day and talking to my timer by the 4th day! :bangHead: My hat goes off to them :D

I'd be in the hospital, paralyzed from the waist down.
