UTAS-15 Owners, Irons VS Optics?

I want to see who's using Irons and optics or have used both and what they prefer? I was considering a EOtech and or Aimpoint but honestly can't bring my self to spend that much on a once and awhile plinker/clay shooter. So the Bushnell TRS is what I would use If I decided optics.

Mine came with Irons so thos are basically free and honestly I don't know if I see to much difference my self in a red dot to the irons they come with.

I use red dots, irons are sitting in my closet (not in a gun fight). I like the red dot because it's Line up the dot and pull the trigger and the things covered by the red dot disappear. Meaning angle of sight and all that fun stuff don't matter. I use a vortex Space AR because I'm rough on my shotguns and not sure my Venom would hold up.

Last spring I smoked a turkey at 60 yards with my Mk10 with a red dot, I really like them on shotguns.

Shotguns can be very hard on cheapo brand RDS.
I might consider a Holosun as the minimum requirement.
For fast shooting, tough to beat a RDS on a shotgun.

Agreed that's why I use vortex (polorising brand I know) but anything happens to the optic or the mount it gets taken care of post haste.

True. Never thought about it that way!
But the best warranty is still the one you never use.

My $30 "ohhuhu" red dot has workEd flawlessly

Ncstar has held up on my 870 for a couple hundred rounds so far. Price was right too.

I found that AR folding sights were too low for me; I'm using a Holosun in the high mount and it fits perfectly for me. I've had no issues with in in about 200 rounds or so, mostly buckshot and slugs.

My UTAS didn't come with the iron sights so I put a Sightmark holosight on mine. Not entirely sure on round count but somewhere around 200-300. I know that the Sightmark is on the cheaper end of things but it's held up perfect with zero issues.

Thanks for all the reply's, So to update my bushnell came in but its WAY to low for me! So i think it may go on my CX4 storm now or T97.

Going to try to find the sights you guys mentioned and see how I like em. Atlest I know Ill have somthing to use them for it it don't work out.

I always forget now low flat tops really are. The only way I could even see the busnell was it pushed ALL the way back to the end of the rail right above the magazine tube bays.
