And does the flash hider reduce recoil?

They do not work the same as a rifle no, some may argue this, I don't notice any difference from ported to non on the recoil side. However the semi auto nature of these eats a lot of recoil. Turkey loads in my over under vs similar designed mag fed semi autos is night and day.
