I have installed a utg tri rail and mounted a scope on to it and it seems to hold zero after disassembly. Im sure its not as good as the choate mount, but this one is doesnt require you to drill and tap.
In reverse order, remove the 4 bolts.
here is pic with bottom removed.
with both peices removed, now the gas tube can be removed like normal.
the iron sights are still usable, although the aperture is small its still functional.
inside both top and bottom
once back together, here is pic to were it mounts to barrel. i use some heatsink compound to help remove heat from barrel too, also to protect the barrel finish.
2 large rails that meet tightly together is how the two halfs come together. I made sure that i aligned everything the same and torqued the bolts in a even fashion using a star pattern till firm.
hope this is helpful.
