Utg tri rail/stripper clip mount frustrations

So I put a utg tri rail on my Norc m14. Looks cool, lots of places to strap crap I don't need, but really it looks good. Now I'm using the stripper clip replacement mount for my Redfield using leupold prw rings. After a trip to the range and a couple of boxes of ammo later I finally get it in line (couldn't bore sight it with the muzzle break on). Maxed out elevation and I'm still too low at 25 yards so not gonna work.

So I'm pissed off, get it to the shop, and rip off the muzzlebreak so I can boresight, and try and shim the back ring to bring the scope down. Put about 2 mm in. And it seems to boresight fine now. Is there something better I can do, I really dislike having to shim that much. I want to keep the rail though.

I mounted a really cheap T-Star on mine. I peered through my sights (of which I knew were deadly) and noticed that the whole mount was off of the centre-line of the barrel. Went to the Sandlak site and noticed that they had a wedge shaped shim which was required to be fitted on the side of the receiver. That got me thinking.

I found another site with the USGI dimensions, measured up mine and mathematically calculated the width of my "wedge". The whole irony is that I took an old chinese made socket (1/2" - I think) and cut a wedge out of it 2.5 mm by about 1.0 mm.

The mounting screw fit through it and presto....the mount was centred! I then adjusted the mount vertically to an object (neighbour's roof eaves) approximately 75 yards away, using my sights as a guide.

Went out the range, and only minor adjustment (fine tuning) to scope was necessary. Also found out that rifle loves handloads and winchesters, hates Remington.

Smacks the 300 yard gongs all day long too. Since the pics, had to install a cheek riser.

Here are some pics of my final result.

Ok well in this cause what mounts/rings do you folks use to counteract the offset? I'm itching to get shooting and I'm struggling to find a satisfactory solution.

Has Anyone used the Burris zee rings with the offsets had had it worked? And does anyone know the height in mm of the high rings
