Thinking of buy a UTS shotgun. I know the previous gen's were a mixed bag. With the gen 4 out, what are your guys thoughts on this shotgun?
Is the trigger metal or plastic out of curiosity?

thanks.

Those things are huge, handle one before buying.

Actually, they are quite small and light. Compared to my Benelli M4, the UTS is noticeably lighter and a lot shorter. All the issues with the early UTS 15's have been sorted out and the Gen 3 & 4's run just fine. It just takes a bit of practice to get smooth with them. Still a fun/tacticool gun IMO.

Reliability issues aside...

Try before you buy. I hated the ergonomics. Found it a very frustrating, un-enjoyable gun to shoot. But everyone is different, and some people love them.

Then again, some people listen to Justin Bieber intentionally. I suspect it's the same crowd.

I was at a LGS and one of the store employees told me that even the shop's demo model broke just from handling in demonstrations. That was about a year ago, so perhaps the new generations are better, but I'd be wary.

I had one when they Wolverine first brought them in at 1200 can $ . The weld that held the barrel to the body let go and I sent it back for a 100% refund.
I just received a new gen 4 in the mail this weekend . But I won't have time to shoot till next week.
The price of these are down to 760 can $$ . That is more resonable , for what could turn out to be a range toy.
If i find time I will try to post some info here. but I am alway very busy , so no promises .

Despite not being able to stand Justin Bieber :) I've been intrigued with the UTS15 since they first came on the scene a few years ago...the look reminded me of the old H&K G11 caseless rifle. The reliability and durability problems scared me away but I'm hoping that the latest version has the bugs finally ironed out....and the new lower price helps a lot too, as slowpoke55 mentioned upthread. I ordered one from Wolverine last week and am expecting it in the next few days. I'm hoping to get out to the range during my Christmas break for a quick shake-down. Hopefully I won't be disappointed

I finally had the my new gen 4 out to the local range yesterday ! ( the last time I shot this shotgun it was a gen 1 and the welds that held the barrel to the rest of the gun broke after 29 rounds)
Yesterday the new Gen 4 ran smoothly for the most part. I liked the spring assist , but takes some getting use to.
I did have a couple of jams , but I was able to clear them without having to open the action , I was able to pull the spent round out of the ejection port and keep shooting.
To be fair I ran mostly low brass target loads , These in my limited experience tend to be problematic.
Sooooo , with the new pricing and performance , I am going to go all out and state . That the gen 4 UTAS is going to give the KGS a run for its money.
That said they are both gimmick guns , but fun.
If you want to get real you need to go with a old school 870 or a M4.
This is only my opinion ,

If you don't practice proper drills with it you will have issues like any other firearm. I tried mine today and it cycled well with cheap ammo. Some miss feeds but they seem to stem from inproper/short stroking.
