Uuummm.... Point Blank test......

Some one should explain to him that the National Institute of Justice has done all the work for him.

So what's the big deal?? He wasted a good vest to prove its properly rated. Good for him. There's a video online of a guy banging himself with an FN repeatedly to prove the effectiveness of hard armor.

He definitely looks like a productive member of society, I'll give him that.

At least he is testing the armour...some moron on Calguns decided to field strip a loaded Glock the other day while using his femur for a convenient projectile stop in the event of the gun going off while he pulled the trigger. Granted Glock's reliability has come down somewhat but it turns out there is still a decent chance that the gun will go off if the trigger is pulled.

Note to readers...if you want to violate fundamental rules of firearms safety, try to avoid violating them all SIMULTANEOUSLY.

If you do...try to recognize that you are a ####ing idiot and that people should probably take your guns away for your own safety, and, ideally, supply you with velcro shoes.

The guy who owned Second Chance (Rich Davis?) used to shoot himself at every sales event, gunshow and County Fair he went to - but he used a 44 Mag. What's this guys issue? Yes, it works and yes, it hurts - the idea is only that you don't DIE, not that you don't feel it.

Did you read the thread?

He didn't pull the trigger, unlocked the slide lock and as he was pulling the slide forward he was cocking the striker against the trigger bar.

Idiotic thing to do anyways - field stripping a loaded gun....:yingyang:

I watched a vid of a guy that made vests and went from place to place testing them on him self with a 44 mag. But my fav is the guy that got his freind to shoot him and the guy mused the plate and the bullet ended up in his body what a fail that was.

I did read the thread. I have also field stripped a lot of Glocks. If someone can explain to me how it is possible to pull down the slide lock, then pull the slide forward more than a quarter of an inch without PULLING THE TRIGGER, I'm all ears.

Here is his description of events, followed by my translation of what happened:

Racked the slide, held down the slide lock, released the slide forward and in an attempt to keep the slide from falling onto the ground, put it to my left thigh

1) Racked slide, and either did not notice it failing to lock back, or did not notice mag inserted
2) Held down slide lock
3) "released the slide forward". Commonly known as "pulled the trigger".
4) Pointed it at thigh. This should be listed as step 3, because once you pull the trigger and the gun goes off, pointing at your thigh won't cause you serious problems...it's really the pointing it at your thigh THEN pulling the trigger that's the issue. So clearly he pointed it at his leg, then pulled the trigger.

I might also point out that in post 652, he describes himself as having "flat out pulled the trigger".

I feel there is no realistic conclusion, then, other than that the trigger was pulled, almost certainly by him, and that either he did it while pointing a loaded gun at his thigh, or, conceivably, immediately before pointing a gun at his thigh, and that he then used the subsequent .004 seconds while waiting for the bullet to exit the barrel to point the gun directly at his thigh.

In sum: try to avoid pointing loaded guns at yourself and pulling the trigger; if that is impossible, try to wear armour over the zone you intend to shoot.

I'm loving all these new Glock jokes:D

Glock should destroy all the tooling and inventory of their current Gen 4's, take their Gen 4 designers out behind the shed and put them out of their misery (with a Gen 3 just to be sure), and then re-introduce the Gen 3 to the market for what it was: the most dead nuts reliable handgun on the market.

I am three quarter drunk and that is just ####ing stupid,I am going to drive the truck into a bridge tomorrow to see if the air bag and seat belts work!!Some of you are against abortion, could you not have just voted yes just once!
