Anyone ever heard of a Valdog .25 handgun? I've got such little info out of this guy that I'm not even sure if "Valdog" is the model of gun, or if it is Val dog, two words, or what. I do know it's a very short-barrel 5-shot .25 caliber handgun. I don't know if it's a revolver or a magazine clip, but I think it's a clip. He's selling it for a friend of his. The story he told me was, a long time ago bike riders used to use them to protect themselves from dogs. Where and when you'd need a gun to protect yourself from dogs while you're out on a bikeride is beyond me, but this is what I was told. He's a retired guy, so 'a long time ago' could be quite a number of years. I didn't have time to inspect the gun, didn't even see it, actually. Hence the vague info. He wasn't asking very much for it, but I can't find any info via google with the terms valdog 25 handgun pistol. This ring any bells for anyone?

Velodog. Most are Belgian in origin. Probably a revolver. Pre WWI. As far as I know the cartridge is .22 Velodog. If its .25 it is a prohib., if its a short barrelled .22 it is a prohib.

Called a "Velo-Dog" because it was meant to allow you to protect yourself from dogs while you were riding your bicycle ("velocipede"); as tiriaq says, the vast majority of these were revolvers, but you see them in a bunch of different calibres, and since they're hard to put a date on, most likely prohibited anyway.
