I have a valid restricted registration certificate for a revolver that is not listed on the RCMP IWS list for my firearms online. I called the 1-800 number today and confirmed that yes they have my reg. cer. and it is valid and no the agent could see it is not on the "list" for whatever reason. That was the end of the conversation with no further action to be taken, I did not ask and they did not offer to do something.
So my question is basically what purpose does the online list serve? Is there something I am not understanding about what the original purpose of the list would be?
If the list isn't accurate/complete for me and it does not need to be accurate for them as they have the info elsewhere, who else would use the list? Has anyone else found errors or omissions on their own list.?
Any thoughts..........thanks Fitz

I believe the official purpose the online list is to be a convenient way for you to apply for transport authorizations.

The unofficial purpose is to check what firearms the government knows you have.

Sounds to me like you have proof the gun is legal, yet the gun is not on the list that might lead the government to harass you for it. I can't imagine why anyone would would try to 'fix' a situation like that.

Perhaps file a privacy act request with the Rcmp under the CFC for anything involving your name. You can see any dates or changes related to each serial registered
