valmet hunter 223 value

Hey there,

I recently came into possession of a valmet hunter in 223 and i am not sure if i want to keep it to make the whole gallil conversion.

It seems these are rarer than the 308 models, i was just wondering how much it was worth as I am thinking of listing it eventually.

So I have almost zero real solid information about the Valmet line up. What I do know is they’re rare and hard as hell to find, specially in Canada. It also seems like very few ever got made in .223 from what I can gather.

In the US the .308 version seems to go for about $4,000-5,500 Canadian depending on the condition.

The 30-06 version seems to be anywhere between $8,300-11,000ish Canadian.

If you really want a true value of the .223 version, I would seriously consider going to a reputable firearms appraiser. Even just giving one a call could honestly be worth while to give you a ball park number.

I would honestly leave the rifle as is, specially if it’s in really good condition. If you aren’t wanting to keep it as a collectors item, it might be worth getting the appraisal done and then either listing it yourself or contacting a local gun shop and seeing if they’d let you out flyers up.
