Valmet Hunter to Galil Conversion

Hi
Bought a Galil parts kit to convert a Valmet Hunter to a Galil clone.
Was told I would need to machine the Hunter barrel to 460mm+ length install Galil gas block etc. to make gun unrestricted.
Took the flash hider off the Galil barrel and it is 470mm long, does that mean I can use the Galil barrel on the Hunter receiver and keep it NR.
As long as I meet all the length restrictions and use the Hunter receiver I believe I a ok.

Thanx for the quick reply.
Now I just have to remove the Hunter barrel from the receiver and check the trunnion threads, measurement etc.
Will post when I get them apart.

Hi back again
Removed the Hunter barrel and compared to the Galil barrel
Looks like the Hunter trunnion will not take a Galil barrel.
They do not look the same and the thread diameter it way off.





In fact you can slide the Galil barrel into the Hunter receiver without threading it in.
Will have to modify my Hunter barrel ( relocate gas block, cut to NR length and thread for flash hider).
Oh well back to the lathe.

What is the 'best before date' for a question?
If somebody wanted to know the answer, and found a relevant previous post, why not tack it on?
When doing a search of related posts, if they are in one thread, I find it convenient.
I'd like to know how the conversion worked out, and what is considered proper etiquette?
