What was brought into the country is what's here, plus the odd individual import...they aren't popular for most people...they are cost prohibitive unless you got a lot of spare change.
As Hitzy mentioned I think with the evolution of importers the ability to pull them in from the USA for cheaper prices has made them more popular and numerous then they were say 5 years ago.
