Hi there;

I know this shotgun is pretty rare in Canada, but I hope I'm going to hit a couple of Valtro PM5 owners out there with this thread. Need help: whoever owns this shotgun - please tell me how to adjust elevation on the rear sight? It's a ghost ring sight between two rails; a screw adjusts windage, there is a wheel at the rear of the sight, but no matter how much I turn it, the shotguns shoots really high. Also, it's impossible to turn that wheel full turn either side without actually lifting the ghost ring assembly.

Any help with this would be appreciated. Also, any spare parts for this shotgun (magazines, muzzle breaks, etc.) - let me know, I'd be interested to get them off your hands. Would also appreciate any info on where to get a full user's manual for this gun (hard copy or download).

Cheers,

THEY SCREWED IT UP - (SECOND GENERATION) -The first valtros were set so that you put the red ball on the enemies nuts - so you could see the arms (law enforcement) - {cant shoot till threat} - if you have second generation - you need to replace the front post --

"if" its the mossberg ghost ring then that wheel spins up and down on a threaded pin, all you need to do is lift the ring slightly and rotate the wheel up or down for elevation.

there are a few factory sight options but mine is a mossberg rear ghost ring and a front rifle sight if that help's.

there are choke tubes and mag's available thru various importers... i would give frontier arm's (site sponsor) a ring and do some asking... mag's are about $100ea last time i enquired.

Thanks everybody who answered. Nice to know there is help out there....Hotwheels81, looks like I've got the same gun. Will try your suggestion tonight. Just to make sure - I have to turn that wheel clockwise in order to lower the front sight, right? Reason for asking - tried to do that already with no result. BTW, do you know if putting a muzzle break instead of a choke will reduce the recoil?

raise it to lower POA and lower it to raise POA

your shooting high so you will need to turn it counter clockwise to raise the rear sight to bring your POA down....

good luck finding a muzzle break... even the ported barrels for these guns dont make a big diffrence.... i started a thread a little while ago asking S&J Hardware to make a butt stock adapter for Valtro owners so we could use the 870 style Knoxx stocks but not alot of response... you sould look for that thread and post if your interested.

Glad I found this thread (better late than never).

I agree with chopper 1, it's the only thing that makes sense. I also have trouble with my Valtro shooting 3-4" high, and my rear sight is at the lowest setting. Bloody embarrassing to have spent $800 for a pump action shotgun and be stuck with a too-long stock and incorrect front sights. Valtros site does indeed show an orange bead sitting on top of the sight.

Anyone know how in hell to remove the front site on the Valtro? I haven't the foggiest...

Peter take the mossberg GR off, your PM5 was not made to have the mossberg gr's. the front sight is the stock slug type, shoot it with only the front sight, night and day diffrence. take the GR off and try it out. quick and very accurate.

Yeah, but but but....... :(

That was one of the turn-ons for me when I bought the Valtro. And I noticed while fondling the Fabarm that the orange bead up front really helped me with sight acquisition.

On another note (and in typical Petey-thread hyjacking manner), how does one figure out proper length-of-pull? I was told years ago that you rested the butt on your arm below the bicep while holding the rifle/shotty upwards. The trigger finger should then be perfectly positioned on the trigger. Am I wrong?
