So an uncle of mine lets me have an old M10 Ross that his father sported (apparently with a spoke shave:( ) and put an old open style sight on the mount at the rear. Bore is pristine, upper wood gone, any idea what it would be worth?

Well - It may be the original sight - its a combo peep and buckhorn located on the rear bridge. If it retains its original barrel length (~29 in), then its of value to someone that has a shot out original.
Otherwise, its worth as described above. Last sported Ross I picked up cost me 40 large... Its now my dogging gun, c/w red-dot.

Piiics!!!

Any pics? a Ross with a good bore is usually a good shooter, too. :)
If the stock has received the chopper treatment, you can at least see if it fits you well and doesn't exert uneven pressure on the barrel save maybe a two inch pressure pad just in front.
The Ross 1910 usually had a combination battle sight and rear peep sight adjustable for windage and elevation. Being quite sophisticated, they were very often thrown out and replaced with crude home-made V-notch contraptions. :(
PP.

I've had my Bubbaed Ross 1910 since 1967 and only took it out of the stock last year and found a folded matchbook pressure pad under the barrel.

Bingo, thats the ticket here:( , I had though of trying to rebuild it to original, but came to the conclusion that this was cost ineffective, It should shoot well or my uncle wouldn't have owned it in the first place, I'll get some pics up tomorrow
