Valuation Question, Pythons/S&W 66-1

Just a quick Q on valuation on Pythons in used VG+, stainless and blued, in 6" configuration.

And what about 66-1, stainless in vg+?

I have a rough idea on the Pythons, but at a loss with the 66-1.

I know very little about revolvers at this point.

Hi not much maybe $500 to $550 if that its a K farme. L frame 686's a little more $600 to $650 these are no comparism at all to the Pythons as prices are going threw the roof on Pythons. To bad though cause when they brake theres no parts to be found LOL! At least S&W .357 Mags. theres parts everywhere...

.. Smith & Wesson Model 66s were built on the "K" Frame, (Both Round and Square butts) and come in a variety of configurations. Blued( Mdl #19 ) Steel and Stainless(#66) as well. Barrel length can be a limiting factor, as many were 4" and also "Snubbies". ( Market issues, potentially requiring 12(6) ) .... Parts fairly easy to obtain as a bonus. ..... Without specifics, 'hard to give a realistic let alone accurate, price range........ David K
 
The 66-1 looks to be in exceptional condition. It is the stainless 6" with what I am guessing is the square style butt (wood grips, widening to the bottom of the grip, with a flat bottom).

..That'd definitely be a "Square Butt". Pricing is really hard as the model 66 has been eclipsed by the 686. Which is a heavier frame, and thus better suited to continual use with 357 Magnum rounds. The "K" Frame, which is what the 66 is, was intended for the 38 Special more than 357 Magnum. .... So, the market, as with most things rules; if a buyer really wants it, then obviously price is not much of an issue. All that being said, you might want to do a little Internet Search, or your local Library/Gun Store on used Gun prices. Most being listed for US prices and market.......... At a guess, I'd think, between $550 and $650, but it would be interesting to see what offers you'd get for it............ Personally, I really always liked the Model 19 and it's later reincarnation, the model 66. Great with 38 Spl.! Easy to tune and polish, very accurate and relaible ! ..... David K
 
Thanks, David. I might actually be getting one in a trade which is why I was asking. I do like the classic S&W look, and I'll most likely stick to .38 out of it. I'll save the .357 for the Python.
