valuation

There was a 54 for sale in a local gunshop chambered in .30/06. It was for sale for almost a year. Started at $995 and sold a short while ago for around $450. Seems to me though they are much lower production they bring about half what a pre-64 model 70 does. The .270 might bring a little more than an 06 though.

I think I know the store you're talking about and the Mod. 54 that they were selling. If I recall correctly, it actually sold for $395. One thing that detracted from the value was that it was missing the original buttplate and had non-factory drill/tapping (if my memory is correct).

I'd be happy to find one in original condition, but agree that they don't have as much interest as pre-64 Model 70's.
